When you generate a new presentation, Plus automatically adds AI-generated images to your slides, where appropriate. (💡Pro-tip: You can add instructions like "include lots of images" to your prompt if you want a more image-heavy presentation.)
When editing an existing presentation, you can generate individual AI images for your slides for more control and variation.
In the Plus AI sidebar, click the Edit with AI dropdown and select Generate images.
Add a prompt, select an image style if you'd like, and click Insert new image.
Use the provided style presets for the best results. You can toggle between Photography and Illustration in the Medium dropdown.
Click on an image style thumbnail to select it. Click again to deselect it.
If your presentation was generated from a Plus AI template, the style preset that was used for your presentation will be automatically selected when you launch the Edit with Plus sidebar.
Describe the contents of the image directly. Use specific, concrete descriptions.
Omit words and phrases like "image of" or "illustration of."
The sweet spot for an image description is 2-3 sentences. Too much detail can lead to confusing results.
Here's an example of a good image prompt:
an astronaut standing on a barren, moon-like surface. The astronaut is dressed in an orange spacesuit with a helmet and a large backpack, facing to the right.
Not all style presets will work equally well with all prompts, so experiment with a few different ones if you're not getting a good result.
As you can expect, there are scenarios where AI generated images don't work as well. Here are some examples where we recommend not using AI images:
Photographs of real people (e.g., historical figures, celebrities)
Maps, scientific diagrams, and other schematics where accuracy is important
Charts and graphs
Images that contain words (e.g., signs, names, phrases)
For these types of assets, we recommend using internet images instead.
Conveniently, since Plus AI works directly inside of Google Slides and PowerPoint, it's easy to replace images manually — just treat the slide like any other file in Google Slide or PowerPoint.
